Bukayo Saka missed Arsenal’s Premier League fixture against Everton on Oct. 24, 2026 after sustaining a thigh injury in the Champions League match in Munich earlier in the week. The England international was withdrawn early in the midweek game and Arsenal are awaiting further medical assessment amid fears the layoff could extend for several weeks.

Saka was substituted barely 10 minutes into Wednesday’s 2-2 Champions League match in Munich after he fell while holding his upper thigh following a pass, with no clear challenge immediately preceding the incident. He hobbled off the pitch and was replaced by Eberechi Eze. Arsenal said they were awaiting additional medical evaluations to determine the full extent of the injury.

Mikel Arteta spoke to reporters ahead of the Everton game and confirmed further tests would be needed, saying, "Initially it was difficult to assess because of the fluid that was around the region of concern," and that Saka "would require another MRI scan, other exams and professional views before Arsenal could tell how bad the injury was." He added: “When a player is struggling to walk without any pain, he’s restricted in movement, they are not good signs.”

Early indications have raised concern within the club and among supporters about the severity of the problem. Sources cited in reports say the winger might be sidelined for six weeks or more, a timetable that Arsenal have not formally confirmed.

The Guardian reported Arsenal assess the player could be out for six weeks, while other sources suggested the absence could extend to eight weeks. Arsenal have not provided an official recovery timescale and the true impact of the injury remains unknown.

Arsenal will wait for the results of the MRI and the additional examinations and professional opinions Arteta referenced before issuing a timetable for Saka’s return. Until those assessments are completed the club has given no definitive estimate for his recovery.
