Ashith Surya and Amrutha Pramuthesh were eliminated by Turkey in the Round of 64 at the BWF World Championships on August 18, 2026. The match went to three games after India won the opening set and Turkey recovered to take the deciding game.

Speaking after the match, Unnati said to reporters, on her judgement of the shuttle's landing on the court, "I have been playing a lot for many years, so that is the judgment. But yeah, like sometimes in drift conditions it is difficult, but I feel like here it is not that much difficult to judge if it is going out or in." She added, "In the first set, I was just trying to understand the drift and everything, but she was also playing, she was very good and all. It was going neck-and-neck, but yeah, I think in the last five points of the first game I controlled and stayed patient, and then she made some mistakes." Unnati will begin her BWF World Championships 2026 campaign against Myanmar’s Thet Htar Thuzar in the women’s singles Round of 64.

Ashith Surya and Amrutha Pramuthesh bowed out after a thrilling three-game contest against Turkey. India captured the opening set, Turkey fought back to win the second, and then edged the decider to progress from the Round of 64. The defeat ended the Indian pair's run at that stage of the tournament.

Rohan Kapoor and Ruthvika Shivani Gadde also lost in three games to Canada's Jonathan Lai and Crystal Lai in their Round of 64 tie. India won the opening set 22-20 — recorded in live updates as "India 22-20 Canada - SET 1" — but the Canadian pair recovered to claim the match. The result eliminated the Indian mixed pair in the first knockout round.

Lakshya, who has previously won a World Championships bronze, is scheduled to play Filimon in the evening session at 6:10 PM IST on Court 1. The home crowd will be hoping Lakshya can build on the momentum created by Ayush Shetty's stunning victory over defending champion Shi Yu Qi on Monday.

Confirmed upcoming fixtures from the Round of 64 include Unnati versus Myanmar’s Thet Htar Thuzar in the women’s singles and Lakshya versus Filimon at 6:10 PM IST on Court 1.
