Calicut FC defeated Malappuram FC 6-2 at the Payyanad Stadium on 1st November 2026 in the final game of Round 6 of the Super League Kerala. A five-minute spell towards the end of the first half, during which the visitors scored three goals, proved decisive in securing the win.

The fixture, billed as the Malabar Derby, was played in front of a packed home crowd and began with Malappuram on the front foot. In the opening minute a quick move down the left saw Bilal find Mehdi inside the box but the effort narrowly missed. Daniel Lalhlimpuia then threatened in the 37th minute after receiving a through ball from Elforsy, but his shot was deflected behind for a corner.

Calicut opened the scoring in the 40th minute when Calwin Thomas slipped past Dheeraj and slotted the ball into the roof of the net. Two minutes later Thomas delivered a dangerous corner that Alexis Sosa met with a well-directed header to make it 2-0. Leonardo David completed the three-goal burst in the 45th minute, finishing a precise cross from Federico Boasso to put the visitors 3-0 up at the interval.

The visitors extended their lead just after the break when Federico Boasso struck powerfully from outside the penalty area, leaving Dheeraj Singh with no chance. Malappuram replied almost immediately through captain Amadou Soukouna, who reacted to a rebound and slid the ball into the net to cut the deficit to 4-1. Soukouna suffered an injury during the move and was forced to leave the field.

Calicut added a fifth goal in the 74th minute as Leonardo David curled a shot in from the left to complete his brace. Federico Boasso then finished a personal brace in the 79th minute with a well-placed strike to make it 6-1. Malappuram reduced the deficit in stoppage time through Nedim Hadzic, and the match finished 6-2 in Calicut's favour.

With the victory Calicut climbed back to the top of the Super League Kerala standings, reaching 14 points from six matches. Malappuram remained third on eight points.
