Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 beta to include campaign mission, multiplayer and Warzone content

Xbox and Activision have announced that the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 early access beta will begin on August 21, 2026 and will feature campaign missions, multiplayer modes and Warzone content; the open beta opens to all on August 28, 2026.
The full game is scheduled for release on October 23, 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC. Eligible players will receive early access beginning August 21, with the public open beta following a week later on August 28, giving players a chance to try parts of the game ahead of launch. According to the report, this iteration of the beta will include a single-player campaign mission for the first time in the franchise’s beta history, whereas previous betas featured only multiplayer content.
A developer-issued feature list for the beta specifies multiplayer (MP), a new Warzone Resurgence map planned for Weekend 2 and access to one single-player campaign mission during early access. The announcement notes that the early access window begins on August 21, 2026.
Activision and Xbox have said that the new Warzone Resurgence map will become playable when the open beta begins on August 28, 2026. The developers also indicated that the playlist and available maps will rotate throughout the early access and open beta periods.
Organizers have described the testing phase as an opportunity for players to experience maps, modes and Warzone content and to preview the campaign story and gameplay mechanics prior to the full launch. Media credits for the announcement include Activision, XBOX and Infinity Ward.
Early access to the beta starts on August 21, the open beta opens on August 28, and the complete game is due to release on October 23, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC.
