Cameron Norrie beat Ignacio Buse 6-3 6-3 at the Canadian Open on 5 August 2026 to move into the tournament's last 32. The match lasted one hour and 29 minutes.

Ranked four places below the Peruvian number 33, Norrie arrived in Montreal having ended a six-match losing streak with a run to the Los Cabos Open semi-finals last week. He was beaten by Denis Shapovalov in that Los Cabos semi-final and had earlier beaten Camilo Ugo Carabelli in his opening match in Montreal.

At the first opportunity, Norrie broke Buse and then held serve to take the opening set. Buse responded in the second set by claiming his first break to level at 2-2, but Norrie immediately recovered the break.

Norrie saved three break points in the service game that followed the 2-2 exchange. Buse required a medical timeout during the match and was unable to reclaim the momentum; Norrie converted his second match point to seal the victory.

In the last 32 Norrie will face Australian world number seven Alex de Minaur. De Minaur married British number two Katie Boulter in July and is preparing to play doubles with her at the US Open.
