Canada beat England 31-22 in Ottawa in the WXV Series on 24 October 2026, handing England back-to-back defeats for the first time in a decade. Captain Sophie de Goede scored a hat-trick as the hosts ran in five tries to England's three.

The victory followed last weekend's 24-21 win in Toronto that ended England's 41-match unbeaten run and completed a 2-0 series win for Canada. The two nations had earlier shared a 26-26 draw in Exeter in September.

For Canada the try-scorers were Julia Omokhuale, Sophie de Goede (3) and Savannah Bauder, with De Goede converting three times. England's tries came from Maddie Feaunati, Amy Cokayne and Emma Sing, with conversions by Zoe Harrison and Emma Sing and penalties by Zoe Harrison.

England began brightly, with Maddie Feaunati crashing over from close range inside 10 minutes, but Canada led 12-7 at the interval. Julia Omokhuale had brought Canada level and, four minutes later, Gabrielle Senft pounced on a bouncing ball and broke down the left wing with De Goede on her shoulder to score.

Early in the second half Zoe Harrison kicked a penalty before England used their driving maul to score a second try through Amy Cokayne. De Goede restored Canada's lead three minutes later and completed her hat-trick just after the hour mark.

Savannah Bauder then finished a move down the left wing to put Canada out of sight and Emma Sing added a consolation try for England in the 80th minute.
