Carrick rejects claim Manchester United are 'unmanageable' in matchday live

Carrick denied that Manchester United were 'unmanageable' in The Guardian's matchday live coverage ahead of the 2pm GMT Premier League fixtures.

The live blog also contained a clásico buildup and flagged Ballon d'Or week. Ed Aarons and Jonathan Wilson contributed pieces on the legacy of Stanley Matthews. The coverage said the Ballon d'Or venue had been switched to England from Paris as a mark of respect to Matthews, who became the first active player to receive a knighthood in 1965, retired at the age of 50, and began his career with Stoke in 1932, earning the nickname 'Wizard of Dribble'.
