The Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne said on October 19, 2026 that a ruling on Senegal's appeal against the decision to strip them of the Africa Cup of Nations title and hand it to Morocco is expected at the end of November 2026. CAS said the hearing was held behind closed doors at its Lausanne headquarters on October 8.

At the January 18 final in Rabat, Senegal won 1-0 thanks to Pape Gueye's extra-time goal, but the match was disrupted near the end of normal time when many Senegal players walked off in protest after a penalty was awarded to Morocco while the score was still goalless. Some Senegalese supporters attempted a pitch invasion and play was halted for almost 20 minutes before the Senegal players returned.

In March, the Confederation of African Football overturned the on-field result and awarded Morocco a 3-0 victory and the tournament title.

CAS commented on the case in a statement: “The panel have begun and continue their deliberations,” the organisation which resolves international sports disputes explained “.The CAS arbitrators have decided to issue a complete ruling which includes legal grounds, known as a CAS Award. This process will require several weeks, with the CAS Award expected at the end of November 2026.”

The issuance of a full CAS Award at the end of November 2026 is the next scheduled step in the appeal process. The arbitrators' decision will be published as that formal CAS Award when it is released at the end of November 2026.
