Castleford overcome coaching absences to beat Hull at the MKM Stadium

Castleford Tigers beat Hull FC at the MKM Stadium in a Super League match on 14 August 2026, overcoming ongoing coaching absences to secure an away victory.
Ryan Carr remained absent for personal reasons and former Huddersfield number one Luke Robinson is cutting short a holiday to take training on Monday as Castleford's new assistant boss, yet the Tigers recorded only their third Super League away win of the season. Castleford scored through Renouf Atoni, Mikaele Ravalawa and Liam Hood and won late after trailing 14-12, while Hull had recently announced Daly Cherry-Evans will arrive next season.
Castleford opened the scoring when Atoni crashed over from close range after nine minutes, with Tom Weaver converting. The Tigers extended their lead on 26 minutes when Ravalawa powered over in the right-hand corner after a patient passage of play along the line.
Hull were denied an earlier score when Harvey Barron intercepted and ran 90 yards to touch down, only for referee James Vella to disallow it because of a late tackle by Joe Batchelor. Weaver then kicked a penalty to make it 12-0 before Hull hit back four minutes before half-time, Batchelor grounding Jake Arthur's grubber and Aidan Sezer adding the extras.
The comeback continued early in the second half when Arthur's kick in the 47th minute was knocked back by Davy Litten for Barron to collect and score, cutting Castleford's lead to two. Hull then took the lead for the first time after 59 minutes when Lewis Martin went over in the left corner, his fifth try in his last four games against Castleford.
Castleford regained the lead when hooker Liam Hood burrowed over in the 68th minute and Weaver's kick added the two points to extend their advantage. The result left both sides separated in the table: the win moved Castleford up to ninth, four points clear of Hull in 12th.
