Jesús de Miguel, a forward for CD Tenerife, has died after sustaining injuries in a collision with Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono during their Segunda División match at the Estadio Heliodoro Rodríguez López; Tenerife announced his death on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 8:00am. The 30-year-old had suffered a cardiac arrest on Monday and was rushed to hospital.

“From CD Tenerife, we announce the tragic passing, this Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 8:00am, of Jesús de Miguel Alameda,” the club said in a statement. “No words can ease the pain, nothing can lessen this great feeling of sadness. Our thoughts are with the family, his close friends and Tenerife fans, who today are grieving over this terrible news.”

The incident occurred in the final minutes as De Miguel challenged for the ball in midfield and was struck in the chest by Owono. De Miguel lay motionless while players from both teams signalled urgently for medical assistance.

Medical staff treated him on the pitch for more than five minutes before he was taken to hospital by ambulance. Owono was shown a straight red card by the match officials following the collision.

Tenerife said in a message posted a few hours before his death that his "medical condition has worsened neurologically". The club reported the deterioration of his condition ahead of the announcement of his passing.

The former Barcelona defender Gerard Piqué, Andorra’s majority shareholder, wrote on social media: "I am so deeply sorry. Rest in peace, Jesús." Andorra sent their “most sincere condolences” to De Miguel’s family, teammates and Tenerife, and clubs across Spain, including Barcelona and Real Madrid, issued tributes.

"Our thoughts and support are with his family, friends and loved ones during these difficult times," Barcelona said in a statement, while Real Madrid said they sent "condolences and affection to his family, his teammates, his club, and all his loved ones".

De Miguel made his debut in 2015 with Leganés B and has played for eight other clubs in Spain, including Tenerife, where he arrived last year. The Segunda División match at the Estadio Heliodoro Rodríguez López did not resume after he was taken to hospital and was abandoned.
