Celta Vigo season-opener against Osasuna postponed after fungal outbreak

Celta Vigo’s season-opening La Liga match against Osasuna was postponed on Thursday after a fungal outbreak affected the pitch at Estadio de Balaidos, the Spanish club said.

The turf was left 'unfit for football' after the fungal outbreak damaged the surface.

The fixture, which had been due to be hosted on Sunday, was postponed in a decision agreed by both clubs and the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) following a technical inspection by La Liga.
