CFL 2026 title undecided as five clubs head into final day of Championship Round on Sept 19
Mohun Bagan, Mohammedan SC, Bhawanipore FC, East Bengal FC and United SC remain in contention for the Calcutta Football League 2026 title as the Championship Round reaches its final day on 19 September 2026, with three matches scheduled to kick off at 15:00 IST. The decisive fixtures will take place at different venues, including the East Bengal Ground and the newly renovated Barasat Stadium.
East Bengal, the CFL 2025 season champions, enter the final matchday having drawn both of their Championship Round games — against United SC and Mohammedan SC — and sit fourth with 2 points. Coal India, a debutant promoted this season, have lost both of their Super Six ties and conceded 8 goals, leaving them out of title contention. East Bengal can still win the title only by beating Coal India by a 6-goal margin and relying on the other two matches to finish level so they prevail on goal difference.
East Bengal will face Coal India at the East Bengal Ground on 19 September at 15:00 IST. United SC meet Bhawanipore FC at 15:00 IST on the final day. United SC drew with Mohun Bagan and East Bengal in their previous two matches in the Championship Round. Bhawanipore occupy third place with 6 points after losing to Mohammedan in their first Super Six match and then beating Coal India, scoring three in that victory.
