Chahal says Rohit’s message before 2023 World Cup omission was: 'We want batters till No. 8'

Yuzvendra Chahal said he was excluded from India’s 2023 ODI World Cup squad and that Rohit Sharma’s message before the omission was, "We want batters till No. 8".

He said the team management’s strategic choice to prioritise batting depth and additional fast bowlers led to his omission.

Chahal said he was disappointed to have missed opportunities at multiple World Cups and noted his absence in 2021 was particularly disappointing.
