Chelsea Green checked by medics during SmackDown taping in Ottawa, stirring fan concern

Chelsea Green was attended to by medics during the pre-taped August 28 edition of WWE SmackDown in Ottawa, Ontario, after video clips from the session circulated online and prompted concern among fans. The footage surfaced days after Green captured the interim WWE Women’s title at SummerSlam.
Green’s SummerSlam victory was her first World title reign with the company. She had earlier suffered a broken orbital bone around her right eye during the SmackDown fallout show, an injury that nearly derailed that initial title run. The orbital injury occurred while she teamed with the then Women’s US Champion Tiffany Stratton against Fatal Influence (Fallon Henley & Lainey Reid) for the Women’s Tag Team titles.
WWE pre-taped the August 28 edition of SmackDown in Ottawa after the August 24 edition of Raw, and multiple fan-shot clips from the taping spread online. One of the circulating videos showed medics checking Green as she wore a face mask to protect the orbital bone injury and then escorting her backstage. That sequence prompted speculation among viewers that Green might have suffered another injury.
According to spoilers from the SmackDown taping, Green was taken away by medics during the match but later returned to continue competing. The spoilers indicate the medics’ intervention was part of an in-match sequence rather than evidence of a separate, new injury. Without the full broadcast context, the short clips circulating online could give the impression of a fresh incident.
At the SmackDown taping Green teamed with Tiffany Stratton to face The Irresistible Forces (Nia Jax & Lash Legend) in a tag-team match. The Irresistible Forces defeated Tiffany Stratton and Chelsea Green at that taping. The medics’ check captured in fan footage is reported to have occurred during that contest.
WWE opted not to strip Green of the interim WWE Women’s title and gave her 30 days to recover and defend the title. Report by Abhijit Singh.
