Chennaiyin and Kerala Blasters play out goalless Southern derby at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium
Chennaiyin FC and Kerala Blasters FC played to a 0-0 draw at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in the Indian Super League on Saturday, October 31, 2026, with several big openings failing to produce a goal.
Supporters packed the ground, with chants coming from both the Marina Machans and the travelling Manjappada as the home side dominated the first half and the stadium awaited a breakthrough that never arrived.
The clearest early opportunity after the interval came in the 51st minute when Adrian Luna’s penalty struck the post and went wide; the spot-kick had been awarded after Irfan Yadwad handled the ball, and Luna sent Mohammad Nawaz the other way but could not convert.
Kerala Blasters tested Chennaiyin’s goalkeeper again when Andre Green fired from inside the box and Nawaz produced a superb diving save to keep the score level.
Chennaiyin created their own chances, with Emmanuel Imanishimwe testing Amrinder Singh from close range after a corner and Irfan thought he had scored when a curling effort beat Amrinder’s outstretched hand only to crash against the woodwork.
Tempers flared in injury time when Chennaiyin’s Emmanuel received a second yellow card and Kerala Blasters’ Andre Green was shown a straight red for a heated brawl; after the match both teams made gestures toward their respective supporters in acknowledgement of the occasion.
The Southern derby finished without a goal: Chennaiyin FC 0, Kerala Blasters FC 0.
