Matchweek 5 of the Indian Super League 2026-27 will see East Bengal travel to Chennai to face Chennaiyin FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium this Saturday. The pre-match notes include confirmed lineups, injury and suspension updates, plus recent form for both clubs.

Chennaiyin FC remain without a victory in ISL 2026-27 after a goalless draw with Kerala Blasters, leaving Clifford Miranda’s side on 2 points from four league games and 12th in the points table. The Marina Machans have produced encouraging football in their last two matches against Mohun Bagan and KBFC. Despite that, they have struggled to finish chances, a recurrence of last season’s problems.

East Bengal have started their ISL campaign strongly, scoring 9 goals in 2 games with a 5-1 win over Inter Kashi and a 4-0 win over Churchill Brothers, and will go into the game as favourites. Their form in the AFC Champions League 2 has been less positive; a late 2-0 loss to Al-Seeb on Tuesday will be a setback for players and supporters. Their recovery will be shorter going into the hot and humid conditions in Chennai.

Chennaiyin FC list Glan Martins, Maheson Singh, Vivek S and Vignesh Dakshnimamurthy as injured. Emmanuel Imanishimwe received a red card against the Kerala Blasters and will be suspended on Saturday.

East Bengal: Anwar Ali was injured on Tuesday and is unlikely to play.
