Chennaiyin FC, former ISL champions, will host defending champions East Bengal FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on November 7, 2026, at 7:30 PM IST in Gameweek 5 of the MG Indian Super League 2026-27 season. The match will be Chennaiyin’s second home game of the campaign while East Bengal travel for a third consecutive away fixture after opening the season in Goa and Pune due to AFC commitments.

Chennaiyin enter the fixture after a difficult 2025–26 season in which they finished 13th, one place above the relegation zone, and their struggles have continued into 2026–27 under coach Clifford Miranda. The Marina Machans drew 2-2 with FC Goa, lost 2-0 to Bengaluru FC and 1-0 to Mohun Bagan Super Giant, leaving them winless in four matches with two draws and two defeats, two points from four games and a goal difference of -3.

East Bengal arrive under Spanish manager Antonio López Habas having balanced a congested schedule of domestic and continental fixtures while producing strong attacking displays in the ISL. They won the Durand Cup by beating Mohun Bagan Super Giant 4-1 in the final, lost the IFA Shield final 1-0 to the Mariners, and have opened the ISL season with victories over Churchill Brothers and Inter Kashi, scoring nine goals in two league matches.

Recent head-to-head numbers favour the Red and Gold Brigade: in the last five meetings East Bengal have lost once, won three and drawn one. Across their last four Indian Super League encounters with Chennaiyin, East Bengal scored six goals, kept two clean sheets and conceded four.

The most recent fixture between the sides came on April 11, 2026, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, when East Bengal beat Chennaiyin 3-1; after Chennaiyin took an early lead they conceded an equaliser and then Bipin Singh and Nandha Kumar scored late goals to secure the victory for the Torchbearers.

East Bengal go into the Chennai fixture on the back of a 5-1 win over Inter Kashi and have a perfect record from their opening two ISL matches, while Chennaiyin’s most recent result was a 0-0 draw with Kerala Blasters FC. Chennaiyin will be seeking their first victory of the 2026-27 ISL season as they host the defending champions.

The teams meet on November 7, 2026, at 7:30 PM IST in Gameweek 5; Chennaiyin aim to end a four-match winless run and register a first three-point return to home soil, while East Bengal look to extend their unbeaten start to the league.
