Chiara Tamburlini holds slim lead as Pranavi Urs stays close at Hero Women’s Indian Open

Chiara Tamburlini retained a narrow lead on day two of the Hero Women’s Indian Open at DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurugram on October 23, 2026, while Pranavi Urs remained within striking distance and local favourite Vani Kapoor moved back into contention.

The DLF course continued to test the field, punishing errors and rewarding steady play as overnight leaders found it difficult to build on their positions. After a volatile opening round, Tamburlini played with greater control on Friday, beginning her round with a birdie at the 10th and parring the remaining eight holes to make the turn at one-under 35.

Tamburlini followed a bogey on the 17th with a birdie on the 18th to card a 71 and finish the day with a two-round total of 138, two shots clear of Pranavi Urs and Magdalena Simmermacher of Argentina at tied second.

Pranavi Urs, who bogeyed the 10th to begin her round, produced three birdies on the front nine and posted a two-under 70 for the second consecutive day, while Simmermacher recorded a par round on Friday to share second place on 140.

Vani Kapoor, the 32-year-old local favourite, shot 69 — the lowest score of the day and one of only two golfers to post that number in round two — and registered an eagle at the par-4 14th, preserving her record of never missing the cut in her 14th outing at this event.

Defending champion Shannon Tan dropped to tied-15th after a difficult front nine that included five bogeys and a double on the 6th, resulting in a five-over 73 for the day.

Top scores after day two: 138: Chiara Tamburlini (Sui); 140: Pranavi Urs, Magdalena Simmermacher (Arg); 141: Sara Kouskova (Cze), Dorthea Forbrigd (Nor), Camille Chevalier (Fra).

Those positions reflect the standings after two rounds of the Hero Women’s Indian Open.
