CM Punk, Gunther, Charlotte Flair among superstars confirmed for WWE SmackDown (September 25, 2026)

CM Punk, Gunther and Finn Balor will contest a men's Money in the Bank qualifying match, while Giulia, Charlotte Flair and Lash Legend will oppose one another in a women's MITB qualifier on the September 25, 2026 edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. The card also features Trick Williams defending the United States title against Baron Corbin in a Steel Cage match.

With less than three weeks remaining until Money in the Bank 2026, the winners of Friday's qualifiers will secure the fifth spot in their respective ladder matches. The fourth spot was confirmed on this past Monday’s Raw in San Antonio, and Friday’s winners will move one step closer to finalizing the lineup for the men’s and women’s ladder matches. The qualifiers form part of the build toward the October pay-per-view, with multiple competitors still vying for places on the card.

Trick Williams will defend the United States title once again against Baron Corbin inside a Steel Cage. The feud began with Corbin’s attack on Williams on his return and has since continued across several encounters. Corbin defeated Williams to capture the title at SummerSlam, while Williams regained it at Sunday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta. The two now collide for the fourth time, this time under the Steel Cage stipulation.

Last week’s SmackDown ended controversially when Johnny Gargano failed to help Sami Zayn retain the Undisputed title against Kevin Owens. Candice LeRae’s continued distraction opened the door for CM Punk to arrive and attack Kevin Owens. That sequence contributed to Sami retaining the Undisputed title.
