Como cleared to host Manchester United at Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia on October 21, 2026

Como will host Manchester United at Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia on October 21, 2026, in the UEFA Champions League after UEFA approved the club’s renovated home ground. The decision confirms the venue for the group-stage meeting between the Serie A side and the English club.
The fixture comes during Como’s maiden UEFA Champions League campaign after I Lariani finished fourth in Serie A last season under coach Cesc Fabregas, even above the likes of Juventus, securing qualification to the UCL. Como’s 13,000-capacity home stadium initially did not meet UEFA’s strict restrictions, prompting the club to consider using Sassuolo’s Mapei Stadium as an alternative while works were carried out. A £50 million refurbishment project that began at the end of the 2025-26 season was completed ahead of the approval.
According to an exclusive by The Daily Mail’s Nathan Salt, the Italian side have been given the green light by UEFA to host matches at Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia. The renovation included demolishing the stand behind the goal — originally built ahead of the 2002-03 season — and replacing it with a new concrete stand. New pitches were laid, increasing the playing surface by 2.5 metres. The players’ tunnels and the substitutes’ benches were moved as part of the works.
Further upgrades focused on facilities for teams and media: dressing rooms and media facilities were significantly improved. The club also added a new mixed zone, a TV studio and a press room. The redevelopment provided 150 parking spots.
UEFA’s approval allows Como to stage their Champions League home fixtures at the lakeside venue and covers the club’s home matches in the competition. Manchester United’s players will be able to travel to and play at the picturesque venue on the shores of Lake Como.
Como will also host Paris Saint-Germain, RB Leipzig and AEK Athens at Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia during the Champions League group stage, with the Manchester United fixture confirmed for October 21, 2026.
