Italian club Como signed defender Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea on 9 August 2026 in a deal worth more than £30m, the clubs confirmed. The 27-year-old has agreed a five-year contract with Cesc Fabregas' side.

Chalobah leaves Chelsea after nearly 20 years at the club, having joined Chelsea as a child and progressing through their ranks from the age of eight. The move ends a long association with his boyhood team and reunites him with Fabregas at Como.

Como secured Champions League qualification by finishing fourth in Serie A last season. The transfer was completed after protracted negotiations.

Chelsea will receive an initial £25.7m for Chalobah, with a further £5.1m available in add-ons. The reported fee places the overall package at more than £30m.

"Trevoh is an important signing for us and a player who represents the level of ambition we have at this club," said Fabregas, who was briefly a team-mate of the centre-back during his time at Stamford Bridge. "He is a leader who can raise the level of the team, and I am very happy that he has chosen Como."

Chalobah said: "I'm thrilled and honored to be here at Como: it's an ambitious, rising project, and working with manager Cesc Fabregas again is truly special."

The centre-back made 151 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea and won five trophies, including the FA Cup in 2018 and the Conference League in 2025. He has two senior England caps, was a late call-up to their World Cup squad and had loan spells with Ipswich, Huddersfield, Lorient and Crystal Palace.

The transfer completes after protracted talks and will see Chelsea receive the initial £25.7m payment, with the potential for a further £5.1m in add-ons.
