Concussion substitute Pasindu Sooriyabandara out first ball in Galle during first Test on Day 4

Pasindu Sooriyabandara, drafted in as a concussion substitute, was trapped first ball while batting for Sri Lanka in the first Test against India in Galle on Day 4. He had been brought on to replace Dinesh Chandimal after the veteran was forced off with an injury.
Dinesh Chandimal was hurt while trying to prevent a boundary at the start of India's second innings, landing heavily and remaining down while medical staff attended to him; he was holding the right side of his neck. "Dinesh Chandimal sustained an injury while fielding during the first session of the day fourth day, hitting his shoulder and head hard on the ground. He was taken for a precautionary scan, which was clear, with no signs of internal injury." "Chandimal was subsequently assessed for concussion by the doctor and team physiotherapist on the ground and was ruled out after the assessment. Pasindu Sooriyabandara will replace Dinesh Chandimal as the concussion replacement. The match referee has approved the concussion replacement," read the statement.
Sri Lanka were set a target of 372 to win and lost Nishan Madushka cheaply to a trap from Mohammed Siraj early in the chase. Sooriyabandara had featured in the SLC XI vs India warm-up game, scoring 35 and four in the two innings, before being called into the Test XI as the concussion replacement.
The returning batsman was trapped in front by Indian spinner Manav Suthar; the on-field umpire initially did not uphold the appeal and captain Shubman Gill opted for a review. "All three reds lit up on DRS" and Sooriyabandara was sent back to the pavilion, completing a first-ball duck on his concussion-sub debut.
Sri Lanka lost Kamindu Mendis soon after and found themselves in big trouble before the end of Day 4.
