Control Resonant gameplay reveals towering magma boss The Deserter

Remedy Entertainment released new gameplay footage of its upcoming action RPG Control Resonant on August 15, 2026 via an IGN First feature, showcasing a boss encounter with a towering Resonant called The Deserter.
The footage introduces The Deserter as one of the most powerful Resonants, a massive foe whose molten body appears barely held together while spewing lava across a hazardous industrial facility where protagonist Dylan explores. Earlier sequences in the clip show Dylan fighting waves of Hiss and solving environmental puzzles that unlock deeper sections of the factory, signalling the game combines combat, exploration and puzzle-solving.
In the boss sequence Dylan repeatedly avoids expanding pools of molten lava and adapts to the enemy’s attack patterns as the fight progresses and the Resonant grows more aggressive. The Deserter deploys magma-based assaults, fires projectile attacks and delivers strikes using molten metal, forcing sustained movement from the player throughout the encounter.
The gameplay footage presents a full boss battle inside the factory after the initial skirmishes with Hiss enemies and the environmental challenges that precede it. Remedy has confirmed that Control Resonant removes traditional parry mechanics to deliver faster, more aggressive combat.
The report and footage were published by Khel Now and written by Mahaksh Chauhan, who is described in the article as a gaming journalist with an interest in old-school RPGs and turn-based games and who cites Persona, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Skyrim among his inspirations.
Control Resonant is scheduled to launch on September 24, 2026 for XBOX Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC.
