Coventry City have signed English defender Stephen Mfuni on a season-long loan from Manchester City, the club announced on 30 August 2026.

The 18-year-old can play at centre-back and left-back and has been capped by England at under-19 level. He made a single senior appearance for Manchester City as a substitute in last season's 10-1 FA Cup win against Exeter City and was subsequently loaned to Watford, where he featured eight times in the Championship.

Mfuni becomes Coventry head coach Frank Lampard's 11th signing since they were promoted to the Premier League at the end of last season. "I feel blessed to be here, it's exciting. These are moments you dream of and to do it with such a good team and a good squad, I'm looking forward to it," said Mfuni. "I spoke to the gaffer, he wants me to show what I normally do on the pitch, whether I'm at left-back or centre-back, and for me to keep being me and do what I do."
