Coventry sign Ethan Pinnock from Brentford

Coventry City signed Jamaica centre-back Ethan Pinnock from Brentford on 26 August 2026, the club confirmed. The fee was undisclosed but has been reported to be around £6m.

The 33-year-old Pinnock joined Brentford from Barnsley in 2019 and made a total of 216 appearances for the Bees, scoring 12 times. Pinnock had been in the final year of his contract with the West London club. "I'm really excited to join Coventry City and continue my footballing journey with this great club," he said. "After 25 years, the club are back in the Premier League, and I know how much it must mean to everyone involved. I can't wait to be part of it."

Pinnock played a leading role in Brentford's promotion to the Premier League but has lost his place in their starting XI. He featured just eight times in all competitions last term. He did not feature in Brentford's season-opening win over Tottenham.

He joins former team-mate Frank Onyeka in making the switch from Brentford to Coventry this summer. Coventry have been active in the market and Pinnock is one of several arrivals as the club rebuilds its squad.

The Sky Blues have spent over £100m this summer; Pinnock is their 10th signing and their second defensive reinforcement following the arrival of Aurele Amenda from Eintracht Frankfurt in July.
