The couple have been together for the past decade after meeting in Madrid, and they posted a picture on their Instagram accounts showing their rings. Cascais is described in the report as a coastal town in western Portugal near the capital Lisbon.

The announcement was issued by the Brunswick Group, which said the civil ceremony was “a private and intimate moment attended by their five children.”

Ronaldo is 41 years old and is a five-time world player of the year who remains one of the most high-profile sports stars. He recently played in his record-tying sixth World Cup for Portugal.

His Saudi team, Al Nassr, starts its domestic season on Saturday (August 15).
