Crystal Palace in talks to re-sign Evann Guessand on season-long loan

Crystal Palace are in talks to re-sign Ivory Coast forward Evann Guessand on a season-long loan from Aston Villa, the BBC reported on 11 August 2026. The 25-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Selhurst Park.
Guessand only joined Villa in August last year for a reported fee of £26m but endured an underwhelming start to his time at the club, scoring two goals in 21 appearances in all competitions. After moving to Palace in January, he scored his first Premier League goal in a 1-0 win over Wolves.
He came off the bench in Palace's Conference League final victory over Rayo Vallecano and was part of the side that won the Conference League in May.
Earlier in the season Guessand had appeared for Villa and he finished the campaign with a Europa League winner's medal after Unai Emery's side went on to win the trophy.
Guessand made two substitute appearances for the Ivory Coast at this summer's World Cup. He returned to Villa for pre-season after Palace failed to take up an option to sign him earlier in the summer.
Discussions between Palace and Aston Villa are ongoing over a season-long loan for Guessand.
