CSK and SRH complete four-player IPL trade sending Livingstone and Khaleel in opposite directions

Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad completed a four-player trade ahead of IPL 2027 on November 5, 2026, with England all-rounder Liam Livingstone and Australian all-rounder Jack Edwards moving to Chennai while Khaleel Ahmed and Nathan Ellis went to Hyderabad. The exchange alters the squad compositions of both franchises ahead of the next season.
The swap sees CSK add two all-rounders and SRH bolster their pace resources, with Livingstone the most prominent name involved. Livingstone joins Chennai for Rs 6 crore, significantly lower than the Rs 13 crore SRH paid when they originally acquired him. Renowned for his aggressive batting, Livingstone also bowls both leg-spin and off-spin in T20s, giving Chennai another power-hitting option in the middle order. His global franchise experience is noted in the deal alongside the caveat that his IPL returns have not always matched his reputation as a destructive batter.
Jack Edwards arrives at CSK at his existing fee of Rs 3 crore. The Australian seam-bowling all-rounder was signed by SRH before making his international debut but is yet to feature in the IPL. Edwards missed the entire 2026 season after suffering a foot injury, a factor that delayed his first appearance in the tournament. His addition provides Chennai a seam-bowling option who also offers batting depth.
Khaleel Ahmed returns to Sunrisers Hyderabad, having previously represented the Hyderabad franchise between 2018 and 2021 before moving to Chennai. He produced 15 wickets in 14 matches for CSK in the IPL 2025 season. Khaleel featured in five matches in the 2026 season before a right quadriceps injury forced him out of the tournament. He joins SRH at his existing fee of Rs 4.8 crore.
Nathan Ellis moves to Hyderabad at his existing fee of Rs 2 crore. The Australian fast bowler is presented as an experienced option, particularly in the death overs. The trade notes his variations and ability to execute different deliveries at the back end of an innings as attributes that could add depth to SRH’s pace attack.
The overall effect of the deal is a clear rebalancing: CSK gain two all-rounders to enhance batting depth and seam options, while SRH take on two specialist fast-bowling players to strengthen their pace battery. Each franchise has exchanged players to address specific squad needs identified ahead of the next IPL campaign.
With IPL 2027 still some distance away, both franchises will have further opportunities to reshape their squads, but this deal has already set the ball rolling in the build-up to the new season.
