Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad completed a four-player trade in New Delhi on Thursday, November 5, 2026, ahead of the IPL 2027 auction. The IPL announced that Liam Livingstone and Jack Edwards moved to Chennai while Khaleel Ahmed and Nathan Ellis were transferred to Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Livingstone and Edwards join five-time champions Chennai Super Kings and will do so at set fees, while Khaleel and Ellis join SRH under their existing contracts. Livingstone, an England all-rounder, moves to CSK at a reduced fee of ₹6 crore from the ₹13 crore at which SRH originally acquired him; Edwards, an Australian seam-bowling all-rounder, joins CSK at his existing fee of ₹3 crore.

Liam Livingstone’s change of price was highlighted in the IPL announcement, which confirmed the financials of the exchange. The statement reiterated the transfer details and the redistribution of the four players between the two franchises ahead of the player-retention window.

Jack Edwards was signed by SRH before making his international debut for Australia and was on SRH’s roster for the earlier seasons. Edwards did not feature in IPL 2026 after being ruled out with a foot injury; his fee remains ₹3 crore as he moves to CSK.

Khaleel Ahmed returns to Sunrisers Hyderabad at his existing fee of ₹4.8 crore; he previously represented SRH from 2018 to 2021. Khaleel claimed 15 wickets in 14 matches for CSK in IPL 2025 and featured in five matches for CSK in IPL 2026 before being ruled out of that season with a right quadriceps injury.

Australian fast bowler Nathan Ellis joins SRH at his existing fee of ₹2 crore. The IPL report described Ellis as a bowler known for his variations and effectiveness in the death overs, adding T20 experience and pace resources to Sunrisers Hyderabad.

More trade announcements are expected after the player retention deadline was extended to November 17, and the IPL confirmed the mini auction will be held in Goa on December 16. Teams therefore have a revised window to finalise retention and trade decisions ahead of the auction.

The extended retention timeline and the December 16 mini auction in Goa set the immediate administrative milestones for franchises as they adjust squads following this four-player trade.
