On 11 August 2026, Leicester City 15-year-old midfielder Darren Motsi is set to join Manchester City, journalist Fabrizio Romano reported. The move is expected to see Motsi immediately enter Manchester City's youth side as part of a long-term project.

Motsi has already played well above his years at Leicester, having been promoted to the club’s Under-21 squad in Premier League 2 at the age of 15 and making 15 appearances for the U21s. Reports describe him as one of England’s brightest “wonderkids” and say he has attracted interest from elite clubs before Manchester City made their move.

Motsi is an England youth international who has been involved with the Three Lions from the under-15 level. He earned recognition at the Vertex Cup, where he registered a goal and an assist against Mexico.

Despite a diminutive stature, scouting reports highlight his physical toughness and ability to shield the ball against larger opponents. Observers have also noted his explosive speed, technical skills and smooth ball-carrying, and scouts typically comment on his superior tactical insight and interpretation of the game.

He is primarily deployed as an attacking midfielder but is described as versatile enough to operate across midfield and out wide on the flanks. Manchester City were reported to have been the first to act on their interest and made a move for the forward who will now join the club.

Sources state a formal agreement between Manchester City and Leicester City has been reached, and Motsi will relocate to Manchester to pursue his development within City’s programme. The club view the signing as part of a long-term investment in his progression.

Motsi will join Manchester City's youth setup immediately as the next step in his development under the club’s long-term project.
