Delhi Capitals confirm 13 retained and six released ahead of WPL 2027 auction
Delhi Capitals finalised their list of retained and released players as teams prepared for the Women’s Premier League 2027 auction, which is scheduled for October 28 at the Grand Hyatt in Kochi. The franchise announced it had kept 13 players and released six ahead of the event.
The WPL returns for its fifth season in 2027, with the tournament scheduled from January 14 to February 7. Delhi Capitals have reached the final in all four previous editions but are still awaiting their first title. Ahead of the new season the franchise said it had decided to keep a strong core from the previous squad, naming Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, Laura Wolvaardt, Annabel Sutherland and Marizanne Kapp among the key players retained.

The franchise said the retained group comprises eight Indian players and five overseas signings. The overseas contingent includes Laura Wolvaardt, Annabel Sutherland, Chinelle Henry, Lucy Hamilton and Marizanne Kapp.
Delhi Capitals released six players ahead of the auction. Released: Sneh Rana, Lizelle Lee, Alana King, Taniyaa Bhatia, Pragati Singh, Eddla Srujana. These released players will enter the auction pool and are available to be picked by any of the five WPL teams on October 28.
Jemimah Rodrigues will continue as the team’s captain, while Shafali Verma remains another important Indian player in the squad. The franchise said it will look to make further changes to the playing group during the auction as it completes its preparations for WPL 2027.
The WPL 2027 player auction will take place on October 28 at the Grand Hyatt in Kochi, where Delhi Capitals and the other four franchises will finalise additions and replacements ahead of the tournament running from January 14 to February 7, 2027.
