Denmark name 24-man squad for September–October Nations League; Rasmus Hojlund included

Danish national team manager Brian Riemer on Tuesday announced a 24-man Denmark squad for the four UEFA Nations League fixtures scheduled in Oslo, Parken and Cardiff in late September and early October. The selection includes forward Rasmus Hojlund alongside a mix of regulars and recent in-form players.
Riemer’s roster covers Denmark’s Group D programme in the Nations League and prepares the team for matches against Wales, Norway and Portugal. The coach has opted for a squad intended to cover four fixtures across the September–October international window.
Midfielders Mads Bidstrup and Thomas Jorgensen were called up following strong recent performances. "Bidstrup went through a difficult period in Salzburg last season. He made a move to Lyon, and I’ve been following him very closely. He has become a key figure for a very strong Lyon side. I’ve been down there to watch him myself, and he’s a real engine. He’s excellent at winning the ball back," says Riemer. Albert Gronbaek was also included after playing regularly for Hamburger SV at the start of this season.
Defensive selections feature centre-back Victor Nelsson, noted in the announcement as having only two appearances for FC Nordsjaelland. Benfica full-back Alexander Bah was picked with the hope he can recover from an unspecified ailment before the internationals, and midfielder Victor Froholdt was listed despite suffering a concussion during a FC Porto encounter in early September.
Christian Eriksen was omitted from the squad; the announcement restated that the Dane’s football career is uncertain after collapsing on the pitch during the second half of an international match against Ukraine on June 7. Eriksen, 34, is presently receiving rehabilitation in Denmark.
The 24-man group named by Riemer is: Goalkeepers: Andreas Jungdal, Mads Hermansen, Filip Jorgensen. Defenders: Andreas Christensen, Joachim Andersen, Oliver Provstgaard, Victor Nelsson, Rasmus Nissen Kristensen, Alexander Bah, Joakim Maehle, Viktor Bak, Patrick Dorgu. Midfielders: Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Victor Froholdt, Mads Bidstrup, Morten Hjulmand, Mikkel Damsgaard, Thomas Jorgensen, Gustav Isaksen, Albert Gronbaek. Forwards: Adam Daghim, Rasmus Hojlund, Kasper Dolberg, Kasper Hogh.
Denmark’s next fixtures in Group D are Norway – Denmark on 24 September in Oslo, Wales at Parken on 27 September, Portugal at Parken on 1 October, and Wales – Denmark on 4 October in Cardiff.
