Dinesh Karthik urges retention of Impact Player rule ahead of IPL 2027, calls scrapping 'doesn’t make sense'

Dinesh Karthik said scrapping the Impact Player rule before IPL 2027 "doesn’t make sense" and urged that the rule be retained.

He said franchises have built their squads on the assumption that an additional player would be available.

Karthik noted the rule’s initial advantages for match dynamics, said it appears to be waning in importance, and raised alarms that modifying it could reduce opportunities for all‑rounders.
