Displaced from Kharkiv, Kantemyr and Buhrova compete for Ukraine at BWF World Championships

Ukrainian badminton players Yevheniia Kantemyr and Polina Buhrova, who were forced to flee their war-torn hometown of Kharkiv to continue their careers in Italy, are competing at the BWF World Championships in New Delhi, according to a Times of India report published on August 19, 2026.

They have suffered personal loss and are representing Ukraine while voicing strong opposition to Russian athletes' participation in sport.
