Drew McIntyre has returned to the United States after completing outside commitments that had kept him off WWE programming since WrestleMania 42, PWInsider Elite reports, and a six-woman tag has been discussed for the September 6, 2026 edition of Sunday Night’s Main Event at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. There is still no update on any creative discussion regarding McIntyre’s return to WWE programming.

McIntyre has been absent from WWE since his loss to Jacob Fatuin in an Unsanctioned match at WrestleMania 42. During that absence he worked on acting projects, including the Highlander reboot, a Russell Crowe-led film called The Last Druid, and a microdrama produced through WWE’s partnership with ReelShort, before completing those commitments and other WWE-related work.

WWE will deliver the September 6 edition of Sunday Night’s Main Event between SummerSlam and Money in the Bank, with the show scheduled to air live from State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. The reports state it will be WWE’s first-ever Sunday Night’s Main Event.

According to WrestleVotes, a six-woman tag match under discussion would see Fatal Influence — Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid — face Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss and Tatum Paxley. Paxley made her main roster debut on the August 7 edition of SmackDown by aiding Flair against Jade Cargill, Michin and B-Fab; if the match is announced it would mark Paxley’s in-ring debut on the main roster.

Fatal Influence currently hold multiple championships on the Blue brand: Jacy Jayne is listed as the Women’s United States champion while Henley and Reid are reported as the WWE Women’s Tag Team champions. The reported matchup is presented in the coverage as confirmation of the faction’s push on SmackDown; Fatal Influence have a long history with Paxley from NXT and have previously targeted Flair and Bliss, notably during their main roster debut after WrestleMania 42.

There remains no public word on creative plans for McIntyre’s return, and the September 6, 2026 Sunday Night’s Main Event at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia is the next confirmed WWE event referenced in the reports.
