EA Sports FC on August 4, 2026 released a deep dive into The Grounds, an open-world social hub coming to EA FC 27 that will connect with Clubs and introduce new progression, districts, game modes and live events.

The Grounds will link directly to Clubs and introduce a new progression system alongside football-inspired districts and fresh gameplay options. The Clubhouse serves as the central hub for Club activities inside The Grounds. Players begin by creating a custom footballer, choosing a preferred position—attacker, midfielder or defender—and selecting from Archetypes such as Finisher, Magician and Target. Progression carries over from previous Club matches, with every match and activity contributing to a character’s development.

The mode adds AMPs, special buffs derived from real-life footballers, available in four rarity levels; players may equip up to three AMPs at once to boost performance. Competitive play will expand with House Rules including No Rules, Headers & Volleys, Survival, Mystery Ball and King of the Hill, alongside 11v11 Live Events. The deep dive also revealed a new 1v1 mode and a Pop the balloon game mode.

EA Sports said The Grounds contains three football-inspired districts, with The Terrace positioned at the centre as the social spawning point where players can interact, visit shops and access the Clubhouse. Each district will host a mentor figure. Players will be able to meet Paulo Dybala, Chloe Kelly, Kylian Mbappe and Alex Hunter; those mentors will offer objectives and rewards and can be engaged in conversation.

Competitive options inside The Grounds include Clubs League Playoffs, Stadium 11v11 Events and Rush Stadium matches, as well as small-sided games from 1v1 to 4v4. Casual offerings comprise Kickabouts, dribbling challenges and football-themed mini-games. Drop Kick Targets are listed as a way to test accuracy by hitting objects.

Customization is highlighted through clothing and accessories from Adidas, Nike, Puma and New Balance, along with a variety of emotes and celebrations for created players. EA Sports has outlined themed campaigns for The Grounds that bring distinct in-game decorations, cosmetics and limited-time events to the open world, with campaigns named European Nights, Screaming Grounds, Thunderstruck, Frozen Grounds and Team of the Year.

EA Sports confirmed live events and activities will arrive after launch and that The Grounds will receive ongoing seasonal support, including new Chapters, gameplay updates, objectives and world events throughout the year.
