EA says no major gameplay balance changes planned for EA FC 27 in the near term

EA Sports has told players on the official EA Sports FC Discord that, almost a week after EA FC 27 launched globally on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch & Switch 2 and PC, they should not expect any major gameplay balance changes soon.

EA said it needs more play data before making substantial adjustments and will instead prioritise stability work; the developer message followed the game's first post-launch update and a social post announcing a small follow-up patch. The company added that the short-term update approach will focus on bug fixes, quality-of-life improvements and matchmaking reductions rather than sweeping gameplay tweaks.

In a post detailing an imminent patch EA wrote: "Tomorrow we're looking to release a very small update for FC 27 to address an FC Pro Open registration issue.This v1.0.2 update does not contain other changes and the update notes are now available on the FC Tracker." The studio has said it is closely monitoring how players interact with the gameplay systems and wants additional data to determine which mechanics, if any, require alteration.

EA noted that the same data-driven approach applies to Ultimate Team, where the team is evaluating recently introduced features over time before deciding on any balance changes. The developer message stressed the need to observe longer-term performance of new systems to understand their impact on progression and competitive balance.

Short-term additions confirmed by EA include Streamlined SBCs on Companion, intended to make Squad Building Challenges easier to complete via the companion app, and efforts to reduce queue times for Kickabouts in The Ground and Clubs. The studio also listed ongoing work to improve matchmaking times across several online modes.

EA said it is reviewing specific systems such as the Gallery, Transfer Market, Dynamic OVR and Stamina to assess how they affect player progression and long-term gameplay. Meanwhile, the company reiterated that no major gameplay balance changes are planned at present while that evaluation continues.
