Rockstar Games provided new screenshots and gameplay details for Grand Theft Auto VI in a 16-page cover story for Edge Magazine, according to a report published on October 30, 2026. The special edition includes an exclusive interview with the developers and outlines world-building, gameplay mechanics and story elements.

Edge's coverage reproduced a series of images that the magazine says highlight Jason and Lucia in new outfits, unseen areas of Leonida, busy city streets, swamps, oceans and action sequences; the article also reproduced a tweet that read: "EVERY NEW GTA 6 SCREENSHOT FROM EDGE MAGAZINE (THREAD)THESE ARE AMAZING pic.twitter.com/stoz5sHLdA". The magazine's visuals prompted increased fan interest and discussion about whether a final gameplay clip will be released before launch.

Edge reports Leonida is larger and more detailed than prior GTA maps, describing it as nearly as large as the combined playable areas of GTA 4, GTA 5, and Red Dead Redemption 2. The story says the map will include fully functional buses and train networks and that longer day-night cycles are intended to enhance the sense of a living world. Those environmental and transit details are presented as part of the magazine's account of the game's world-building.

Developers told Edge they established dedicated teams to build in-world content, including advertisements, television shows, radio stations, political campaigns, pedestrians and fictional brands. The article says these teams were assigned specifically to populate and diversify Leonida's urban and regional environments. The feature also notes an increase in enterable interiors compared with previous entries.

Edge describes an upgraded AI system for non-player characters, saying NPCs react differently depending on location, personality and what they witness firsthand; the piece gives the example that carrying a shotgun through a street may alarm civilians more than slinging a weapon over a shoulder. The magazine reports police encounters have been expanded: officers can deploy K-9 units, track suspects based on clothing and known accomplices and respond more effectively during pursuits. Edge adds that robberies may provoke resistance from victims, bystanders in shops may intervene and armed drivers can fight back against carjackers, making confrontations less predictable.

The feature lists several quality-of-life and gameplay systems, including a delivery service called Scooter Bros that can bring a player's personal vehicle to their location. Edge says cars in GTA 6 can include tracking devices and improved fuel management and that an in-game WAINK app can help players locate valuable vehicles wanted by criminal buyers. The article also reports consumables will have greater impact, citing coffee as boosting stamina and protein shakes as temporarily increasing health.

Edge identifies additional systems and relationship mechanics, mentioning a Criminal Profile system and deeper relationship mechanics between Jason and Lucia alongside broader gameplay additions such as more enterable interiors and vehicle delivery services. The magazine is reported to have revealed a total of 10 new screenshots, and the special edition is also described as including more than 10 brand-new screenshots showcasing Jason, Lucia, Leonida, Vice City, swamps, oceans, vehicles and previously unseen locations.

GTA VI is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, and Edge's coverage notes that download-size and pre-load details have been released so that players can plan for the game's launch weekend.
