EFL Championship 2026-27 in India: Fancode secures streaming rights

The EFL Championship returns for the 2026-27 season and will be available to viewers in India exclusively via Fancode. The competition’s opening round is scheduled for the weekend of August 14-17.

The Championship is the top tier of the English Football League and the second-highest level in the English football pyramid, ranked below the Premier League and contested annually by 24 professional clubs from England and Wales. Those 24 clubs will compete for three Premier League promotion places, while teams finishing in the relegation zone will drop into England’s third tier in May. The season is played over a 46-game schedule for each club.

Recent movement between divisions included Coventry City, Ipswich Town and Hull City earning promotion to the Premier League last season, with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Burnley and West Ham United coming down to replace them. From League One, Lincoln City, Cardiff City and Bolton Wanderers moved up to the Championship, while Oxford United, Leicester City and Sheffield Wednesday were relegated after 46 games.

Fancode holds premium streaming rights for the regional coverage in India, offering live match broadcasts along with full-match highlights and video snippets. There is no television broadcast of the Championship in India for the 2026-27 season.

Clubs expected to challenge near the top include Middlesbrough, Norwich City, Southampton, Sheffield United and Wrexham. The preview noted that "A 46-game championship campaign is a chaotic trip that is not for the faint of heart."
