Emami Group exits as investor of East Bengal, will remain club sponsor

Emami announced on 25th August that it has stepped down as investor and manager of East Bengal FC, transferring its entire shareholding and associated voting rights to the club itself. The company said the change ends its ownership role while the commercial relationship will continue.

Emami had been with the ISL champions for almost 4 years after taking over the club in 2022. The partnership between Emami and East Bengal coincided with what the club described as a golden period for both the men’s and women’s teams. Emami has said it will continue to support the club and its sporting ambitions and will remain associated with East Bengal as a sponsor.

Under the Emami partnership the men’s team captured East Bengal FC’s first-ever ISL trophy in 2025-26. The men’s side also won the Super Cup in 2024 and secured consecutive Calcutta League titles in 2024 and 2025.

East Bengal’s women’s team claimed back-to-back IWL titles in 2024-25 and 2025-26 and won the Kanyashree Cup in 2023. The women’s side also won the inaugural SAFF Women’s Club Championship in 2025 and qualified for the AFC Champions League.

While Emami will remain a sponsor, the club now faces an ownership transition and the need to stabilise its finances and governance. The announcement makes finding new investors a priority for East Bengal as it moves beyond Emami’s tenure.

East Bengal will prepare to defend its status as ISL champions this season and to participate in the AFC Champions League Two, making the search for investment and stability a pressing operational task for the club.
