Emma Jones' last-ball boundary gives The Blaze One-Day Cup victory

Emma Jones hit a boundary off the final ball to give The Blaze a last-ball win over Hampshire in the Women's One-Day Cup final at the Utilita Bowl on 19 September 2026, finishing unbeaten on 34 from 25 balls.

The Blaze were chasing 252 after Hampshire were restricted to 251-9; Tammy Beaumont and Georgia Elwiss each scored half-centuries for The Blaze during the chase. The Blaze had already won the T20 Blast and County Cup this season. Hampshire bowlers Amanda-Jade Wellington and Bex Tyson produced key spells, taking 3-36 and 2-46 respectively as the chase tightened.

Asked to bat after Blaze captain Kirstie Gordon won the toss, Hampshire began cautiously before an opening partnership between Ella McCaughan and Maia Bouchier yielded 84 from 106 balls. Bouchier, who had recorded hundreds in both of her previous two innings, drove Lucy Higham twice for leg-side boundaries before being caught at long-on. Georgia Adams departed cheaply after slicing a full toss from Higham to mid-off.

Freya Kemp accelerated for Hampshire, clearing the infield and hitting Higham for the innings' first six, but Hampshire's momentum faltered at 166-2. Grace Ballinger returned to trap McCaughan lbw for 78, and Kemp (52 from 46) was stumped after being lured down the track by Higham, who finished with four wickets.

Charley Phillips then took three wickets in quick succession, while Kirstie Gordon's ten overs cost 39 and she produced a one-handed mid-on catch to dismiss Naomi Dattani. Daisy Gibb and Poppy Tulloch added late runs to push Hampshire past 250, with Lucy Higham finishing with four wickets as Hampshire were held to 251-9.

In reply, Beaumont top-scored with 74 as she and Elwiss kept The Blaze in control for much of the chase; Beaumont reached 50 from 75 balls and Elwiss brought up her fifty with successive fours off Wellington. The innings saw Sarah Bryce hit a high long-on boundary and then both Bryce sisters dismissed in the same over by Wellington, Sarah sweeping to deep square leg and Kathryn taken at slip by Adams.

Hampshire's spin attack fought back as boundaries became scarce: four Blaze wickets fell for 29, leaving The Blaze needing 30 from the final three overs. Jones struck two fours off the penultimate over from Dattani and, after Lucy Higham was run out with three required, Jones pulled Daisy Gibb's last delivery to the boundary to secure the win, finishing unbeaten on 34 from 25.

The victory completed a treble for The Blaze following their earlier T20 Blast and County Cup successes, while Hampshire suffered defeat on home soil for a second consecutive year after losing the 2025 final to Lancashire.
