England A to play four-day red-ball match in India tour as Ashes preparation

England A will play a four-day red-ball match at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium during their tour of India in November and December as part of preparations for next summer's Women's Ashes. Issy Wong and Jodi Grewcock are included in the squads named for all three formats on the tour.
The India itinerary contains three T20s and three 50-over matches in addition to the four-day game, leaving England without senior international fixtures at home until after Christmas despite finishing their summer with a 3-0 win over Ireland in September. England are scheduled to play three T20s and three one-day internationals against Sri Lanka before the first Women's Champions Trophy — a T20 competition — in India in February, although the dates for the Sri Lanka matches have not been confirmed.
A series against West Indies is planned for April and could include a Test, but those dates have also not yet been finalised. Some players on the England list have signed for Australia's Women's Big Bash League, and the Women's Premier League in India will take place before the home season of 2027 begins.
Eleven players named across all three England A squads have previously been capped, with established fast bowlers Issy Wong and Lauren Filer and left-arm spinner Tilly Corteen-Coleman among them. The selection also features all-rounders Mady Villiers, Charis Pavely and Jodi Grewcock, wicketkeeper-batter Kira Chathli and seamer Grace Ballinger.
Seamer Ryana Macdonald-Gay is picked for both white-ball squads, while top-order batter Grace Scrivens is included in the 50-over and four-day sides. Davina Perrin has been added to England's performance programme but is recovering from injury and will not join the A tour, and fast bowler Cassidy McCarthy will also not be part of the trip.
The tour opens with the T20s in Pune on 30 November, followed by the 50-over fixtures and the four-day match at Wankhede Stadium. England, who reached the final of the Women's T20 World Cup earlier this year under Charlotte Edwards and Nat Sciver-Brunt, will be aiming to regain the Ashes after a 16-0 defeat away from home in 2025.
