England and Pakistan were at Headingley as play was due to start at 11am BST on day one of the first men's Test.

Joe Root led England out to warm applause at the start of his second spell as permanent captain.

The live updates recalled last Friday as the 10th anniversary of Pakistan's 10-wicket win over England at the Oval, when Younis Khan hit a double hundred and Yasir Shah took a five‑fer. The update added that Misbah-ul-Haq, their 42-year-old captain, led his team on a victory lap in south London and that Pakistan, unable to play at home since 2009 because of an attack on Sri Lanka's team bus, moved up to No 1 in the Test rankings for the first time.
