Erling Haaland scored twice for Manchester City in their UEFA Champions League 2026-27 league-phase match against Paris Saint-Germain, but City lost the game. Those two goals elevated Haaland to become Manchester City’s all-time top scorer in the competition.

Before Haaland’s recent milestone, five City players had reached the 20-goal mark in the Champions League. Phil Foden has accumulated 20 goals in 69 appearances in the competition. The other members of that group are Sergio Agüero, Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus and Erling Haaland.

Gabriel Jesus recorded 20 Champions League goals for Manchester City during his time at the club, including strikes against Real Madrid and a hat-trick against Dinamo Zagreb. The Brazilian’s best season for City in all competitions came in 2019–20, when he scored 23 goals.

Raheem Sterling finished his City Champions League tally on 24 goals, registering those across 67 outings between 2015 and 2022. His UCL contributions for City include one hat-trick, scored against Atalanta in 2019, and 15 assists. With 24 goals he is the third-highest scorer for Manchester City in the competition, behind Sergio Agüero and Erling Haaland.

Sergio Agüero ranks second on Manchester City’s Champions League scoring list. The former Argentine striker was a prolific goalscorer for City and played in the Champions League final, which City lost; he did not win the trophy during his playing career. Agüero’s total of 36 UCL goals stood as City’s record until Haaland surpassed it.

Haaland moved past Agüero when he scored a header in the 53rd minute against Paris Saint-Germain for his 37th Champions League goal, surpassing Agüero’s 36. He then increased that tally by rolling the ball home in the 75th minute to extend the mark. In just his 41st UCL game since joining City in the summer of 2022, Haaland reached the milestone; he has scored 38 goals for City in the UCL. He has also scored eight goals for RB Salzburg and fifteen goals for Borussia Dortmund in 60 games in Europe’s top club tournament, totalling 61 goals.

Despite the defeat to PSG in the 2026-27 Champions League league phase, Haaland now stands as Manchester City’s leading scorer in the competition with 38 goals, the club record established during that match.
