Brazil defeated India 4-0 in an international friendly at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata on October 3, 2026, with Chelsea winger Estêvão, Pedro and Samuel Lino (two) on the scoresheet.

Former France international Vikash Dhorasoo had urged the Indian side to enjoy the occasion ahead of the fixture, and the match drew a lively atmosphere at VYBK as the Blue Tigers faced the five-time World Cup winners in what the hosts described as a historic encounter that offered valuable experience.

India began the match with organised defensive shape and created an early chance when Apuia’s long-range effort in the sixth minute went narrowly wide, while Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr. repeatedly tested the Indian defence and was flagged offside on occasions alongside Estêvão.

Brazil broke the deadlock in the 28th minute when Estêvão cut inside past Ashique Kuruniyan and fired a left-footed shot that goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu could not keep out, and Pedro doubled the lead in the 42nd minute after Estêvão’s through ball put him behind Anwar Ali for a composed finish.

Khalid Jamil made a goalkeeper change at the interval, replacing Gurpreet Singh Sandhu with Prabhsukhan Singh Gill, and the second half saw India’s best opening come through Manvir Singh in the 54th minute when his left-foot effort sailed over the near post while Marquinhos chased the ball.

Samuel Lino, introduced as a substitute for Vinicius Jr, scored Brazil’s third with a curled effort that the debutant Prabhsukhan Gill could not stop, and Lino completed his brace with the final touch of the match to make it 4-0.

Ryan Williams and Abhishek Singh Tekcham were noted for their contributions for India, with the report adding that Ryan Williams’ forward progress was dangerous while Abhi Meitei restricted Vinicius Jr. during the first half.

India’s next confirmed fixture is against Uruguay at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan on Tuesday, 6th October, 2026.
