Everton sign Christian Norgaard from Arsenal

Everton have signed midfielder Christian Norgaard from Arsenal on a two-year contract, the move reported on 5 August 2026. The 32-year-old Denmark international, who was into the final year of his contract at Arsenal, has reportedly joined the Toffees for £7m.

Norgaard moved to Arsenal last year in a £15m transfer from Brentford and made 20 appearances for the Gunners in all competitions last season, seven of them in the Premier League. He was left out of Arsenal’s squad for a friendly against Real Betis on Wednesday, and was part of the squad that won Arsenal’s first title in 22 years.

Before his spell at Arsenal, Norgaard spent six years at Brentford where he became a regular in the side, captaining the team and making 196 appearances. That period at Brentford preceded his £15m transfer to Arsenal last year.

Everton’s summer recruitment has also included central midfielder Hayden Hackney, signed from Middlesbrough for £16.5m. The club added 20-year-old winger Tyrique George from Chelsea for £18m; George spent the second half of last season on loan at Everton.

Manager David Moyes has targeted experienced additions following the departures of long-serving defender Seamus Coleman and midfielder Idrissa Gueye. Coleman is identified as a Republic of Ireland defender aged 37, while Gueye is described as a 36-year-old Senegal midfielder.

Midfielder James Garner, aged 25, is set to miss the start of the new season after undergoing groin surgery last month. His absence is noted alongside the club’s other summer changes as Everton prepare for the campaign.

Everton begin their Premier League season against Crystal Palace at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday, 22 August.
