Excellent Lass wins H.H. Sri Chamaraja Wadiyar Memorial Trophy at Mysuru; Crown Drive second

Excellent Lass beat Crown Drive to win the H.H. Sri Chamaraja Wadiyar Memorial Trophy at Mysuru on Thursday, September 24, 2026, with Emphatic third in the feature race.

The main event was the H.H. Sri Chamaraja Wadiyar Memorial Trophy, run over 1,400 metres, rated 80 & above and scheduled for 4-00 pm; false rails about 7.5m wide were in position from 1,600m to the winning post. Crown Drive started from draw 12 with jockey Abhishek Mhatre carrying 62, while Excellent Lass ran from stall 2 with Akshay K assigned 53.

The Psychic Strength Plate (Div. II), 1,200m rated 40 to 65 for 5-y-o & over at 3-00 pm, was taken by Windborne (4) with Md. Talib riding at 59; Golden Bird placed second and Red Hills third. Other competitors in the division included Choice, Dufy, Saint Emilion, Sira, Miraculous Girl, Mr Karnataka and Natural Light.

The Ranga Family Cup (1,600m), rated 40 to 65 and run at 3-30 pm, was won by Unforgettable Star (4) ridden by Akshay K at 51.5, with Sassy finishing second; the event also featured Glorious Strides, Lasya, Straordinario and others. The Shimsha Plate (1,600m), rated 20 to 45 at 4-30 pm, produced Tipped Off (1) with Yash aboard at 58.5 as the winner, Wanganui second and Shining Dawn third.

The concluding Psychic Strength Plate (Div. I), 1,200m rated 40 to 65 for 5-y-o & over at 5-00 pm, saw Grizzly (4) ridden by Rafique S.K at 59.5 take first place; Sherouk finished second and Malet Spring third.
