Giuseppe Farina of Alfa Romeo was the first Formula 1 World Drivers' Champion in 1950, and McLaren's Lando Norris clinched the title in 2025. This article provides a year-by-year register of World Drivers' Champions and the constructors they represented when winning the title.

The FIA awards the World Drivers' Championship to the driver who accumulates the most points from individual race results across a season, and the champion is formally presented at the FIA Prize-Giving Ceremony after the season concludes. Since its inception the World Drivers' Championship has been the primary individual prize in Formula 1 and the aspiration of every driver on the grid. The compilation spans every championship season starting with the inaugural 1950 campaign and records both the driver and the constructor for each title-winning season.

Across the decades the title has been claimed by drivers including Juan Manuel Fangio, Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen. The listing names the champion for each year of the championship. It also specifies the constructor each driver represented when securing their World Drivers' title.

Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton jointly hold the record for the most World Drivers' Championship titles, with seven apiece. Juan Manuel Fangio follows with five championships. Alain Prost, Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen have each won the championship four times.

Schumacher is the only driver to have won five consecutive World Drivers' Championships, achieving that run between 2000 and 2004. Sebastian Vettel became the youngest World Drivers' Champion in 2010 at 23 years and 134 days. Juan Manuel Fangio is the oldest champion, having claimed the 1957 title at 46 years and 41 days.
