F2000 and F1600 to headline second round of MRF Indian National Racing Challenge at Madras

MRF F2000 and F1600 classes will headline the second round of the MRF Indian National Racing Challenge at the Madras International Circuit over the weekend, the report said on September 25, 2026. A compact card of eight races has been arranged for the meeting.

The race programme is being led by the two MRF Formula categories, F2000 and F1600, alongside Formula LGB 1300, which has attracted the bulk of entries. The saloon competition comprises the Volkswagen Polo Cup and Super Stock classes, while the MRF Saloons (Toyota Etios) will appear for the first time this season. In all, the second round has attracted 51 entries and follows an inaugural round held at the same venue last month where several youngsters outperformed more experienced rivals.

MRF F2000 is billed as the showpiece category for the weekend. Among the drivers to watch is 18-year-old Saishiva Sankaran, last year’s MRF F1600 champion, who won all three races in the MRF F2000 class during the first round.

Seventeen-year-old Ishaan Madesh, last year’s MRF F2000 champion, missed the previous round and will return this weekend; the meeting identifies the anticipated duel between Madesh and Saishiva as one of the highlights. Also notable from the opening round was 16-year-old Bhuvan Bonu of Visakhapatnam, who won two of the three MRF Formula 1600 races.

The three Saloon categories will run on a combined grid, with about 15 cars expected to contend for positions. The organisers expect that mix of Polo Cup, Super Stock and the newly entered MRF Saloons (Toyota Etios) will create close racing across the saloon classes.

The weekend meeting at Madras International Circuit constitutes the second round of the MRF Indian National Racing Challenge and will be contested over the eight-race card already scheduled for the event.
