FC Goa held to 1-1 draw by Chennaiyin FC at Fatorda in MG ISL opener

FC Goa and Chennaiyin FC played out a 1-1 draw at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda on October 10, 2026, in the second match of the MG Indian Super League 2026-27 season. Irfan Yadwad put Chennaiyin ahead in the 64th minute and Chiki levelled with a header in the 75th minute.
Neither side scored in a goalless first half as both teams worked to build from the back and probe into the final third. The draw gave each team a point to start their 2026-27 MG ISL campaigns and moved both clubs up the early standings; the Gaurs trail Bengaluru FC in second place while Chennaiyin sit close behind in third. Bengaluru FC top the table with 3 points after defeating SC Delhi 3-2 earlier in the day.
Chennaiyin broke the deadlock in the 64th minute when Irfan Yadwad drove a right-footed effort into the far corner to put the visitors ahead. Following the goal Ramon Taque tested the FC Goa defence with a powerful effort towards the bottom-left corner from a tight angle on the right.
FC Goa responded by increasing their pressure and came close in the 70th minute when Ramon unleashed a powerful curling strike from long range that struck the post. Udanta Singh also unsettled Chennaiyin, his attempt rattling the crossbar as the hosts pushed for an equaliser.
The Gaurs drew level in the 75th minute after a foul on Udanta Singh in the attacking half led to a free kick; Chiki converted with a well-directed header into the bottom-right corner. Chiki then had another attempt from inside the box in the 79th minute as Goa pressed for a winner.
Chennaiyin posed threats at the other end as well, with Ramon rising to meet a cross from the left but sending his header over the crossbar while the goalkeeper was off his line. Neither side could find a decisive goal in the closing stages; FC Goa registered four corners to Chennaiyin FC’s one.
FC Goa will host SC Delhi at the Fatorda Stadium on 28th October with a scheduled kick-off at 7:30 PM IST, while Chennaiyin FC travel to Bengaluru to face the Blues in the Southern Derby on 17th October, 2026 at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium.
